Last summer, Lavinia took a magical trip to Peru where her adventures included visits to the Machu Pichu in the Andes, the tropical Amazon rainforest and cities such as Cusco which sits at almost 4000m altitude! It’s carnival season! Or should I say “carnevale” season. At this time of year in Italy every town comes alive with festivities.
The main event occurs on the Sunday preceding Shrove Tuesday, known in Italian as “Fat Tuesday” or “Martedì Grasso”, which this year falls on 28th February, however the build up lasts for a whole month, if not two, in some regions!

Tuesday 13th September was the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birthday. The highly celebrated British writer has charmed us over the years with his work which includes “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Matilda” and “The BFG” which has recently been turned into a film.
How often have you leafed through the pages of glossy magazines and marvelled at elaborate scenes from celebrity weddings, taking in every detail and perhaps imagined what it would have been like to have been there? Or maybe you’ve shared in some of those magical moments at the nuptials of your own friends or family members… It’s wonderful to look through each photo of the special day, remembering the emotion and the joy, having been part of this happiest and most romantic of occasions.
