From Banking to Boutique Confectionery: My Journey to Creating Lavolio

Growing up in Italy, my fondest memories are woven with the scents and flavours of homemade treats. I remember sitting in my grandmother’s sun-drenched kitchen, watching her create delicate confections with a patience and skill that fascinated me. The air was filled with the scent of roasted nuts, fresh citrus zest, and warm caramelised sugar. Every bite of her handmade sweets carried with it a story—a story of love, tradition, and craftsmanshipLife, however, led me down a very different path. I pursued a career in banking, a world defined by numbers, strategies, and structure. It was challenging, exciting, and fast-paced, but something was missing. I longed for the creativity, the artistry, and the sensory joy of working with food. Then, as often happens in life, an unexpected turn presented itself—a chance to follow my heart.

Leaving behind the security of the corporate world, I embarked on a journey to rediscover the flavours and traditions of my childhood. I immersed myself in the world of confectionery, drawing inspiration from the rich Italian heritage of artisanal sweets. My vision was clear: to create something unique, something that celebrated the beauty of fine ingredients and craftsmanship, much like the treats my grandmother once made.

That dream becameLavolio Boutique Confectionery—a collection of handcrafted chocolates that encapsulate the essence of Italy. Each Lavolio tin is a treasure trove of carefully curated flavours, blending nuts, fruits, and chocolate in delicate sugared shells. It’s a modern interpretation of an age-old craft, designed to surprise and delight with every bite.

What started as a passion project has grown into a brand loved by those who appreciate the finer things in life. Every piece of Lavolio confectionery is made with the same love and care that I first witnessed in my grandmother’s kitchen. And while my journey has taken me from banking halls to confectionery kitchens, the core of my work remains unchanged: crafting something meaningful, something that brings joy.
