Our hazelnuts are sourced in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy and are IGP certified. This Protected Geographical Indication certification guarantees both the quality and authenticity of the product. Since July 2014, this extraordinary land has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. The spherical ‘Nocciola del Piemonte’ (hazelnut from Piedmont), is characterised by a fine and delicate flavour and a very crisp pulp.
Hazelnuts are produced between August and September in Piedmont. Since they are currently in season, we thought it would be a good time to put the spotlight on this perhaps considered by some rather humble nut. It might surprise you to know that even Dante refers to the Tonda Gentile del Piemonte (literally, “round noble from Piedmont”) in his verses dedicated to kings and princes in Purgatory.
